Last Saturday, July 20th, we celebrated Friendship Day at Bodega De Lucca. Located in El Colorado, Canelones, this family winery of Italian origin (Piedmont) is now run by the third and fourth generations of the family, led by Reinaldo de Lucca (better known as “el Tano”), along with his daughters Agostina and Antonella and his son Steffano.
This winery has a long history in our country. It was a pioneer in the reconstruction of Uruguay's viticulture in the 1980s and is known for producing high-end wines.
It was a very special day, because it was the first time we visited this winery in almost 10 years of Wine Explorers' history.
We had the privilege of being welcomed by one of the most notable figures in national viticulture, El Tano De Lucca. We toured the winery with him, listening to his incredible stories and understanding his passion for what he does. This was an experience in itself, difficult to put into words.
Then we enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch in their newly opened visitor hall, accompanied by a great selection of their wines, including their late harvest wine “Florencia,” in honor of el Tano’s eldest daughter.
Another reason that made this day special is that we celebrated Friendship Day. Friendship is very important for Wine Explorers because it is the driving force behind us and the reason we started this journey.
To celebrate, we honored everyone with a gift; no one left without a present!
Thank you, Tano, Agos, and Antonella, for opening the doors of your home with such lovely details and generosity. We truly felt very special.
Endless thanks to the friends who joined us in celebrating life and friendship. It was a day full of treasured moments that we will never forget.
Cheers to passion, life, wine, and friendship!
