We invite you to enjoy a day in the countryside at a winery we absolutely love: Cofradía de la Sierra.

Located in Maldonado, in the Hills of Carapé, just a short drive from Pueblo Edén, its name Cofradía de la Sierra, reflects its origin: a group of friends united by a common goal to make the best wine possible.

​

The public faces of this project are Alejandro Chertkoff (the director), together with his wife Stella Fernández, who also runs a fine merino wool project of handwoven garments called Fina, agronomist Federico Baccino, and Fiorella Faggiani, the winemaker who was awarded Revelation Winemaker of the Year 2023 by Descorchados magazine.

The land was acquired in 2020, and the first harvest took place in January 2023.

The five hectares of vineyards produce the following varieties: Albariño, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.

​

During our visit — with exclusive access for Wine Explorers — we will be welcomed by Alejandro and Stella, who will guide us through the winery and vineyard.

​

For lunch, we have a very special surprise: cooking just for us will be a guest chef who we deeply admire: Leonardo Etxea, a major reference of Basque cuisine in Punta del Este for over 15 years.

​

He will delight us with an incredible menu, designed especially for us and paired perfectly with the winery's Atlantic-style wines.
