Cofradía de la Sierra
Saturday, August 16
We invite you to enjoy a day in the countryside at a winery we absolutely love: Cofradía de la Sierra.
Located in Maldonado, in the Hills of Carapé, just a short drive from Pueblo Edén, its name Cofradía de la Sierra, reflects its origin: a group of friends united by a common goal to make the best wine possible.
The public faces of this project are Alejandro Chertkoff (the director), together with his wife Stella Fernández, who also runs a fine merino wool project of handwoven garments called Fina, agronomist Federico Baccino, and Fiorella Faggiani, the winemaker who was awarded Revelation Winemaker of the Year 2023 by Descorchados magazine.
The land was acquired in 2020, and the first harvest took place in January 2023.
The five hectares of vineyards produce the following varieties: Albariño, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.
During our visit — with exclusive access for Wine Explorers — we will be welcomed by Alejandro and Stella, who will guide us through the winery and vineyard.
For lunch, we have a very special surprise: cooking just for us will be a guest chef who we deeply admire: Leonardo Etxea, a major reference of Basque cuisine in Punta del Este for over 15 years. He will delight us with an incredible menu, designed especially for us and paired perfectly with the winery's Atlantic-style wines

A Day in Garzón
Saturday, November 15
We invite you to join us for an unforgettable day: a visit to the Colinas de Garzón olive oil plant and the spectacular Garzón Winery on an exclusive tour for Wine Explorers Uruguay.
Here are a few details about each location and the experiences we will enjoy:
Colinas de Garzón
This is the mill where the Colinas de Garzón olive oils are produced.
They have a plantation with more than a dozen different olive varieties coming from Italy, Spain, France, Israel and Argentina. All of which give their oils a unique freshness and sensory profile.
We will have a guided tour of their facilities, learn about the olive oil production process and taste three of their extra virgin olive oils accompanied by artisanal breads, cheeses, and of course some of their delicious olives as well.
Garzón Winery
Located in Maldonado, three kilometers from Pueblo Garzón and just twenty kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, it is set on natural terraces and adapts naturally into the hilly landscape, truly making it a majestic place.
It has received numerous awards, including being recognized as the Best New World Winery by Wine Enthusiast and being included in the Top 50 Wineries in the World according to the World’s Best Vineyards 2023 awards.
The Garzon vineyards are made up of over 1,000 individual plots and as well as a building construction covering 19,050 m². Today it is a global icon, with the notable distinction of being the first sustainable winery located outside of North America.
We will take a guided tractor tour through the vineyards, followed by a tour of the winery facilities, tasting three wines from the Reserve line during the visit, accompanied by snacks.
We will finish this incredible experience with an exquisite 4-course paired lunch, prepared especially for us.

Caviar & Terroir
Wednesday, November 26
We are delighted to invite you to the final Wine Explorers dining experience of 2025, an unforgettable evening at Viti Bar de Vinos, located in the heart of Montevideo’s Old City.
Opened just a year ago by winemakers Santiago Degásperi, Nicolás Monforte, and Federico Urquiola, Viti was born from their dream of creating a modern, welcoming space where every glass of wine can be enjoyed with warmth and authenticity.
With chef Facundo Connio (Es Mercat) curating the culinary offers, Viti perfectly blends exceptional cuisine, outstanding wines, and the relaxed charm of a world-class wine bar.
For this exclusive Wine Explorers dinner, we’ll take you on a journey through Uruguay’s wine regions, with a pairing menu designed to highlight the country’s diversity of terroirs: a true celebration of flavor, elegance, and creativity.
The evening will also feature a special guest experience: an introductory masterclass by Black River Caviar. Produced in Río Negro, Uruguay, it is recognized as one of the world’s finest caviars. Black River exports 97% of its production to destinations such as the United States, Australia, France, and Switzerland, where it’s served in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels. Led by Rodolfo Laporta, the brand’s Commercial Director, we’ll explore the fascinating world of caviar: its origins, production process, and the many ways to enjoy this exquisite delicacy.
This will be an experience you will not want to miss, designed both for caviar lovers and for those curious to discover a new universe of flavors.
