A magical night of fire, history, and fine wine

This is how we celebrated the St. John’s Eve at Familia Deicas: two A magical night of fire, history, and wine, in a one-of-a-kind experience co-created by Wine Explorers and Bodega Familia Deicas that brought us closer to winter, tradition, and the joy of togetherness.

For many, the St. John’s Eve is the most magical night of the year. And in 2025, we celebrated it like never before: with two unforgettable evenings at the spectacular Bodega Familia Deicas, on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22.

It was a truly special edition, not only for the excitement it sparked — which led us to add a second date — but also because it marked the very first time in history that Familia Deicas celebrated the Night of San Juan. And they did so hand in hand with Wine Explorers, opening the doors of their winery to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

An ancestral ritual in a soulful setting

The evening began with a guided tour of the winery, where we explored its rich history and winemaking philosophy. We then moved into the heart of the celebration: the ritual of the bonfire, where we shared wishes, intentions, and good omens in a moving ceremony, accompanied by live bagpipe music. The firelight, the spiced mulled wine, and the emotion in the air made for a truly unforgettable moment.

An intimate dinner in the historic Preludio cellar

After the fire, we gathered for dinner in the Preludio cellar — a space steeped in history, built by the Jesuits in 1745 and now a national historic monument. There, we enjoyed a winter-inspired gastronomic experience, beautifully paired with some of the winery’s finest wines.

From blinis with mushroom and truffle mousse, to a soul-warming carbonade flamande, and a Basque cake with homemade quince — each dish was a celebration of the season. The wine pairings included labels such as the Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, the Preludio Tinto 2019 — launched that very month — and a delicious Tannat liqueur to close the evening, among many other remarkable wines.

Details that leave a mark

Each guest took home a handmade spice blend to recreate mulled wine at home. There were conversations, laughter, toasts, surprises, and a unique energy that made us feel we were celebrating more than just a date — we were celebrating winter, connection, wine, and life itself.

We are deeply grateful to Bodega Familia Deicas for trusting us to co-create such a special event, and to everyone who joined us to make this night possible.

We carry with us the warmth of the fire, the joy we shared, and the desire to meet again soon.

Thank you, once again, for being part of it.
