A premium experience featuring Black River Caviar, wines from 11 regions, and signature gastronomy
Wine tourism and gastronomy in Uruguay are experiencing a remarkable moment, and events like “Caviar & Terroir” show why Montevideo is becoming an ideal destination for those seeking exclusive, distinctive, and deeply authentic experiences.
For our final Wine Explorers dinner of 2025, we gathered at Viti Bar de Vinos, one of the most modern and intriguing wine bars in Ciudad Vieja, to enjoy an evening that united high-end cuisine, exceptional wines, and the story of a product that fills us with pride: Black River Caviar, produced in Uruguay.
Surrounded by elegant flavors, wines from across the country, and an intimate atmosphere, we shared a night that reminded us why each gathering has the power to become truly unforgettable.

Viti Bar: modern design, warmth, and wines with identity
The experience took place at Viti Bar de Vinos, opened just a year ago by winemakers Santiago Degásperi, Nicolás Monforte, Federico Urquiola, and chef Facundo Connio.
The space blends modern architecture, warmth, creative gastronomy, and a carefully curated wine selection, positioning Viti as one of the most relevant wine destinations in Montevideo.
Black River Caviar: a world-class Uruguayan treasure

One of the central moments of the evening was an introductory class on Black River Caviar, led by Rodolfo Laporta.
Black River is recognized as one of the global leaders in high-end caviar:
97% of its production is exported, is served in Michelin-starred restaurants and selected by luxury hotels in the United States, Australia, France, and Switzerland.
Throughout the session, guests explored its history, production process, and the sensory qualities that make this Uruguayan caviar truly exceptional.
Five courses, caviar in every dish, and a double wine pairing across Uruguay
The dinner consisted of five courses, each one featuring caviar, including the dessert, as the creative and expressive thread of the evening.
Every dish was paired with a double wine pairing, allowing us to explore, in a single night, the diversity and potential of eleven Uruguayan wineries representing different regions of the country:
Compañía Uruguaya de Vinos de Mar (Maldonado)
Nakkal Wines (Canelones)
Bodega José Ignacio (Maldonado)
Viña Progreso (Canelones)
Estela de Frutos (Canelones)
Bodega Las Garzas (Rocha)
Barras de Mahoma (San José)
Casa Tannat (Artigas)
Fernando Pettenuzzo (Canelones / Maldonado)
Rosa Negra (Canelones)
Martín Viggiano (San Jacinto / Canelones)
This wine journey showcased the many expressions of the Uruguayan terroir through white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines, creating a sensory experience unlike any other.
We were also honored by the presence of Estela de Frutos, who presented her CRONO Chardonnay, offering a warm and memorable moment.
The group: the heart of every Wine Explorers experience
Friends from Uruguay and from different parts of the world joined us with curiosity, joy, and that special energy that transforms each encounter into something unique.
They are the reason every experience takes on a life of its own.
Our heartfelt thanks to Santiago, Nicolás, and Federico for their hospitality, to chef Facundo Connio for a creative and expressive proposal, to Rodolfo Laporta for generously guiding us through the world of caviar, to the eleven wineries that accompanied us through their wines, and especially to each explorer who trusted us to curate such a unique night.
Caviar, terroir, Uruguayan wines, and a wine bar that reflects the very best of Montevideo, this is how we closed our year with Wine Explorers.
We leave filled with beautiful moments and eager to continue creating unforgettable experiences.
Until the next adventure!
Cheers!
