Last Saturday, April 6, we visited Bodega Colorado Chico. It was a super special day because it was our first time visiting this winery in the 9 years of Wine Explorers' existence. Discovering a new winery is something we love.
Located in the Canelones area that bears its name, in this winery we can find wines and vermouths from four different winemakers, each producing with their own stamp and identity, with grapes from vineyards in different regions of Uruguay: Montevideo, Las Piedras, Las Violetas, and Rocha; with the labels of Nakkal Wines, Becasina, Viggiano, and Rooster. It was like visiting four wineries in one!Colorado Chico winery - Four Vineyards United
We were welcomed by two of their winemakers: Nicolás Monforte and Santiago Degásperi. Along with them, we visited the Merlot and Tannat vineyard where their "Suelto" line of Nakkal Wines is produced, and then we toured the winery and tasted musts from 2024 directly from the tank.
Gastronomically, it was a spectacular banquet by Casa de Productores, where we enjoyed a wide variety of cheeses, cold cuts, nuts, olives, fruits, and homemade breads from Productores del Este, and then an exquisite grill lunch where we were surprised not only by the variety and quality of products but also by the careful preparations.
All these delights were accompanied by a great selection of wines from their 4 winemakers:
Chenin Viggiano 2023
Riesling Los Cabos 2022
Rosado C. Chico 2023
Pinot Noir Los Cabos 2023
Suelto Tannat Nakkal 2023
Vermouth Rooster Rosso
Thanks a lot to Nico, Santi, family, and team for welcoming us with so much warmth, we felt like part of the family. And of course, as always, many thanks to the beautiful group that accompanied us, made up as usual by people from different parts of the world: USA, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Kenya, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. You made another perfect day possible.
